Emi Buendia ‘wants to join Arsenal’ after admitting transfer dream
Emiliano Buendia will fit Mikel Arteta’s side “perfectly” with speculation continuing to link the playmaker with a move to Arsenal.
The Norwich City midfielder enjoyed an impressive season in the Premier League last term and has continued that form with the Canaries back in the Championship.
Buendia was widely expected to leave Carrow Road in the summer, although he ultimately remained with Daniel Farke’s side.
Arteta is believed to be in the market for a creative midfielder, with Mesut Ozil likely to leave The Emirates before the end of the month.
The Canaries are desperate to hold onto the Argentinian and could demand as much as £40milion for the 24-year-old.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the Gunners have been in contact with the player’s agent ahead of a potential bid during the window.
And Arsenal favourite Kevin Campbell believes that should Arteta make a move for Buendia, he would offer exactly what he is after.
“I like him. He has the qualities that Mikel Arteta is looking for in a player,” Campbell told Football Insider.
“Not only can he pick a pass, he can score and he works hard. He has that energy which has been missing from the team for long periods of this season.
“I think he would be a very clever signing. There are some really good players in the Championship and Buendia is one of them. He would fit what Arteta wants to do perfectly.”
In an interview with Argentinean station Radio Residencias, Buendia admitted that a move back to the Premier League remains his dream.
"It is the best league in the world, it is the one that makes the difference at all levels," he said. "Any team makes life difficult for anyone, it is very complicated.
"Their organisational level is perfect, the stadiums have a lot of history, the conditions for playing football are ideal, there are no excuses. And the players and the teams are the best.

"I aspire to the best and work every day to get back to it, either in my team or through a transfer. Returning to the Premier in the short term is a dream."
And Campbell added that regardless of Norwich’s stance, if Arsenal formalise their interest, he will want to make the switch.
He said: “I know Norwich will be desperate to keep him but this is Arsenal and business is business. I am sure Buendia would want to join Arsenal, that is for sure.”
