Elliott wows Liverpool coaches with “outrageous” piece of skill to dupe Mane

Harvey Elliott has been wowing Liverpool coaches in training while one piece of outrageous skill left Sadio Mane for dead.

The 18-year-old has only just returned to fitness after nearly five months out with a serious injury to his ankle.

The winger has already scored when he netted against Cardiff in the FA Cup on his comeback match while also looking in fine fettle against Leicester.

And footage has emerged of Elliott putting on a real show in training with a sublime piece of skill.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the youngster made a pass to Mohamed Salah – sounds pretty basic right?

Well not in this case, because despite losing his balance after receiving the ball from Naby Keita, Elliott protected the ball from Ibrahima Konate before scooping it to Mohamed Salah – while on the floor, in one motion.

Mane, who had put looked to nick the ball off the downed teen but was left duped as it drifted over his head.

Out of shot, a Liverpool coach can be heard saying “oh, wow!” and it is easy to see why.

After returning to fitness, the teenager is ready to play a major role in Liverpool’s hunt for the Premier League title.

He spent last season on loan at Blackburn where he took the Championship by storm, though he was pipped to the PFA Young Player of the Year by Michael Olise.

And it is easy to see why Jurgen Klopp is such a huge fan of the player and has elevated his position in the squad despite his young age.

As a big Liverpool supporter, Elliott could be at Anfield for years to come and will hope to go on to become a legend.

Klopp said of the teen in the club’s match programme, he said: “I’m conscious of overplaying the situation with Harvey Elliott, because it’s critically important now we all realise he will still need time and patience to fully reintegrate and get to the consistent levels we expect of him and he expects of himself.

“But you’d need a heart of stone not to be moved by what happened. What a moment.

“It was apparent after the game, when our players were showing their love and joy towards Harvey that there was a recurring theme: hard work pays off.

“And what I loved about Harvey’s own comments post-match is that he was the first to recognise the hard work wasn’t only his.

“His comeback actually started seconds after he suffered the injury and continued right up until the moment he ran back onto the Anfield pitch on Sunday in the 58th minute.

“A top professional, even if very young, with an elite attitude to his work.

"Allied with knowledgeable and dedicated staff, eager to use their expertise to help make the process the best it could possibly be.”
