Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek has spoken for the first time since declaring his desire to buy Arsenal from the Kroenkes.
The Swedish billionaire, believed to be worth £3.4bn according to Forbes, has been putting together a consortium with club legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira to make a £1.8bn offer to the American family.
While the current Gunners owners have released statements saying they will not sell, the 38-year-old has now responded with serious intent.
Speaking to CNBC , the media mogul said: “I’m very serious, I have secured the funds for it and I want to bring a very compelling offer to the owners and I hope they hear me out.
“I certainly didn’t expect this will happen overnight and I prepared for this to be a long journey.”
Ek has supporter the club since he was a child and still watches them regularly, even streaming games on his laptop in Spotify board meetings.
And the Swede emphasised this when asked about his interest in the north London side.
“I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I was eight years old," he said.
“Arsenal is my team. I love the history, I love the players and, of course, I love the fans.
“As I look at that, I see a tremendous opportunity to set a real mission for the club, to bring it back to its glory.
“I want to establish trust with fans and I want to engage the fans again.”
