Edinson Cavani’s father claims the Manchester United striker is “uncomfortable” at Old Trafford and wants to head back to South America this summer.

Cavani only joined United back in October, signing a one-year contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men after departing Paris St-Germain on a free transfer last summer.

The 34-year-old has generally impressed this season, scoring seven goals in 25 games so far, but he did receive a three-match ban earlier in the campaign for an offensive post on social media.

And his father, Luis, has told Argentinian outlet Superfutbol that he was left “very upset” by the ban and is now looking to leave United this summer.

Cavani Sr has also revealed that his son wants to join Boca Juniors next after holding talks with vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme.

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again,” he is quoted as saying.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America.

"I want Edinson to play in a team that fights something important. He had many conversations with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

"He was always been seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America, he lean towards them.

"By the middle of the year it would be the return to South America. My son's idea is not to continue [in England], he wants to return.”
