Eden Hazard’s ‘chat’ with Chelsea pal Antonio Rudiger over Real Madrid transfer
Antonio Rudiger's time at Chelsea appears to be coming towards an end, and now the German is having discussions with former teammate Eden Hazard about his next move.
Rudiger has been one of Thomas Tuchel's standout defenders since the German replaced Frank Lampard a year ago, and the 28-year-old has consistently been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League over the past 12 months.
Despite his impact and importance, Rudiger's contract expires at the end of the season and seems uninterested in signing a new deal as he wants to take his career elsewhere.
And Hazard is playing a part in his future, as he has had a 'chat' with his former Chelsea friend about a move to Real Madrid.
Rudiger has been linked with a move to the majority of Europe's elite clubs seeing as he can now hold talks with foreign sides in order to secure a free transfer next summer.
Bayern Munich, Madrid and PSG have all expressed interest, and according to FootMercato, the French side have already tabled a £110,000-a-week offer to Rudiger, but his head has been turned by former teammates Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
That's according to The Telegraph, who have reported that conversations with his former Blues teammates have helped decide his future, and Los Blancos' offer is marginally lower than PSG's, the German would like to play in Spain and join his former pals.
Rudiger is in no rush to commit his future and due to his undeniable ability, interest isn't going to die down soon.
But Chelsea remain hopefully that until he signs a deal with a foreign club, they can do their best to persuade him to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are reportedly reluctant to meet his £200,000-a-week wage demands to stay in the Premier League, and Tuchel has reiterated that although he rates the defender extremely highly, he is left in the dark about Rudiger's stance.
"I cannot predict the future," he recently admitted.
I don’t know if his representatives have talked to other clubs, if you know so or assume so, fair enough.
"Of course, it is possible now because it’s January and he has not signed yet. But as I understand it we are in communication with him, the club is in communication with him, I assume that he is very aware of what I demand from him and that I appreciate to work with him."
