Ed Sheeran and David Beckham together at Wembley as fans make Paul Scholes joke

David Beckham has been snapped alongisde Ed Sheeran as the pair watched England's last 16 tie of Euro 2020 vs Germany.

The pop sensation and the ex-Man Utd winger were spotted in a Wembley box to watch the Three Lions crucial clash against Die Mannschaft.

Sheeran is not an umfamiliar face in football grounds, being a boyhood Ipwsich Town fan, with the 'castle on the hill' singer also the front of shirt sponser for the Tractor Boys next season.

But viewing fans were confused with the spotting of Sheeran alongside Beckham and many made the common mistake of confusing him with a former United midfielder.

Paul Scholes scored 107 goals in 499 Premier League apperances for the Red Devils and featured 66 times for his national side too.

Three Lions fans watching on the box were quick to joke that Scholes and Beckham were back together in the stand:

"Great to see David Beckham sat with Paul Scholes in the crowd, two England legends," quipped one fan.

"England really grown into the game, good to see David Beckham and Paul Scholes in the crowd together too, the latter with much longer hair," wrote another.

While one onlooking supporter mentioned to get them out of their suits and into a Three Lions strip saying: "England could do with Scholes and Beckham right now."

It sounds daft but he may be onto someting: the last time Scholes and Beckham started for England against Germany was on September 1st 2001 – the day the Three Lions put five past Die Mannschaft in Munich.
