Danny Drinkwater has hit back at a fan for asking him where his career ‘went wrong’ on social media – simply posting a picture of him kissing the Premier League trophy in 2016.
The 30-year-old sealed a loan move to Turkish outfit Kasimpasa this week after a nightmare spell on the sidelines at Chelsea, and invited his Instagram followers to ask him a question having completed his switch.
But Drinkwater – who played his last competitive match for Chelsea in August 2018 – was left somewhat unimpressed with one fan’s question.

One social media user asked him: ‘Where did your career go wrong?’ after watching his progress stagnate since quitting Leicester for Stamford Bridge in 2018.
In a quick-witted response the midfielder wrote: ‘Go wrong?’ and included an image of himself kissing the Premier League trophy after he helped Leicester City win the title in the 2015-2016 season.
Drinkwater was a key figure in that famous title-winning campaign but has endured a controversial few years while struggling to get regular minutes on the pitch. He was attacked outside a nightclub in 2019 while on loan at Burnley and was involved in a training ground scrap with Jota during his subsequent loan at Aston Villa.
And this season he was also in the headlines for the wrong reasons after being sent off for the Blues’ Under 23s against Tottenham in December for kicking out at Spurs’ 16-year-old midfielder Alfie Devine.

Another fan asked Drinkwater if he left Leicester to play alongside Chelsea team-mate N’Golo Kante.
Drinkwater admitted he did move to Stamford Bridge with the hope of linking up with the French international once again, but had been left frustrated by playing with him only once.
He said: ‘I think that was their plan yes… unfortunately we only played together once in 5-0 win v Stoke.’
Drinkwater also admitted that he left Leicester City to play alongside Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante
Drinkwater went on to say that Kante is the ‘best player’ he has ever played with – calling their partnership ‘special’.
Drinkwater has not featured for the blues since their clash with Manchester City in the Community Shield in 2018, and has barely seen any regular action while out on loan. He played twice for Burnley and just four times at Villa in the two troubled spells.
This week he signed for Kasimpasa on yet another loan as he bids to salvage his career. Chelsea will pay a substantial amount of his wages while in Turkey with Drinkwater understandably eager to get back to playing competitively.
