Donny van de Beek 'ponders options over a Man United exit'

Donny van de Beek ‘ponders options over a Man United exit’ but Ralf Rangnick ‘has NO plans of letting disgruntled Dutchman leave and vows to give him more game time’

  • Donny van de Beek is reportedly weighing up his options over a January exit
  • The Dutchman, 24, has been given little game time since arriving for £40m
  • Van de Beek has rarely featured under Ralf Rangnick and could leave on loan
  • However, the German has vowed to give the former Ajax star more game time

Donny van de Beek is weighing up his options for a January exit, despite assurances from Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick that he will be afforded playing time, ESPN reports.

Van de Beek, 24, has endured a torrid spell at Old Trafford since making a £40million switch from Ajax in 2020, with the Dutchman rarely used by former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The midfielder had been linked with a January loan move to Everton or Wolves, but Rangnick’s arrival saw hopes renewed that Van de Beek may finally get his chance at Old Trafford.

However, he has made just one start under Rangnick – against Young Boys in their Champions League dead rubber – and has played a total of six minutes in the Premier League with the new boss in charge.

According to ESPN, Rangnick has told Van de Beek that he would like to keep him for the remainder of the season and that he will get his chance to impress at some point.

The 24-year-old is prepared to stay at the club but has reservations as to whether the German can deliver on what has been promised.

Van de Beek’s fall from grace has seen him dropped from the Netherlands squad by old United boss Louis van Gaal, and the former Ajax star wants to win back his place with the Qatar 2022 World Cup fast approaching.

United will allow Van de Beek’s representatives to put loan options forward but any potential suitors must pay the Dutchman’s wage in full and pay a loan fee.

Even if those demands are met, Rangnick will have the final say as to whether Van de Beek will leave. The German wants a deep squad at his disposal and also told Dean Henderson that he has no intention of letting him go this month.

The latest development comes after Sportsmail reported that the likes of Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are among a group of stars looking for an escape this month. They cannot understand why they have not been given a chance when the team have performed so poorly.

United fell further from the top four on Monday night after being outclassed by Wolves at Old Trafford.
