Dominic Calvert-Lewin 'wanted by Real Madrid and could go for £50m'

Dominic Calvert-Lewin ‘wanted by Real Madrid and Everton could sell the England man for £50m this summer’ as Carlo Ancelotti plots reunion with Toffees striker after jumping ship to Spain this month

  • Carlo Ancelotti swapped Everton for a Real Madrid return earlier this month
  • Reports claims the Italian wants a reunion with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Spain
  • The 24-year-old scored 21 goals for Everton last season with Ancelotti in charge
  • The Toffees are reportedly open to selling their striker for £50m this summer

Real Madrid are interested in moving for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and could sign the England forward for £50million, according to reports.

The Toffees lost manager Carlo Ancelotti to the LaLiga giants earlier this summer with the Italian manager returning to the club where he won the Champions League title in 2014.

Ancelotti and Calvert-Lewin enjoyed a fruitful manager-striker relationship at Goodison Park with the 24-year-old scoring 21 goals for Everton last season with the legendary Italian coach in the dugout.

And according to The Sun, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri could be forced to accept a £50million bid for the star striker due to the ongoing financial pressure in the blue half of Merseyside.

The report claims Ancelotti will hope to use his knowledge of Everton’s financial situation to his advantage this summer, with the Toffees losing around £240million over the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A move for Chelsea striker Timo Werner is reportedly being considered as well but the Champions League winners are said to be keen on keeping the German striker, who joined for £47.5million 12 months ago.

Real currently have Karim Benzema as their main striker at the moment but most of the centre-forward back-up options are recognised wide players, such as Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior.

Striker Luka Jovic’s time at the Santiago Bernabeu has not gone to plan as of yet, and the Serbian forward was sent back on loan to former club Eintracht Frankfurt for the second half of the season just finished.

Calvert-Lewin’s form for Everton under Ancelotti earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the ongoing European Championships, but the 24-year-old was limited to just a few minutes of action at the tournament.

Real only had Karim Benzema as their only recognised striker towards the end of the season

The Everton man played the final few minutes as a late substitute of the Three Lion’s 1-0 win over Croatia and was unused for Friday’s goalless draw with Scotland at Wembley.

Despite a good goalscoring season for Everton this term, the Toffees only managed a tenth place finish in the Premier League despite spending most of the season in the hunt for European places.

And the Merseyside club’s chances of reaching Europe next season has already taken a blow following Ancelotti’s exit to the Spanish capital.
