‘Disastrous’ Liverpool end Rangers’ dismal 12-year record within just 20 minutes
The misery of Liverpool supporters was compounded by an early Rangers goal at Ibrox on Wednesday evening – their first in the competition for 12 years.
Jurgen Klopp's men went into the fixture on the back of a Premier League defeat against Arsenal that left them 13 points from top spot – and were behind thanks to Scott Arfield.
With James Tavernier robbing Fabio Carvalho of possession, Arfield took the ball and slotted past Alisson after 17 minutes to the delight of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

That goal was Rangers first since their 2010 clash against Bursaspor, when they finished third in a group with Valencia and Manchester United.
One fan wrote: "Rangers waited 12 years to score this goal just so it is against Liverpool." With a second adding: "Rangers haven't scored in the CL in 12 years but of course they had to break the record against Klopp."

With a fourth writing: "Rangers: We haven't scored a UEFA Champions League Goal in 12 years. Liverpool: Hold my beer".
Having failed to score in their opening two fixtures this season against Ajax and Napoli the celebrations were wild – until Roberto Firmino equalised.
Firmino nodded home from a Konstantinos Tsimikas corner just seven minutes later, with the British sides going in level at the break.
Earlier in the week Klopp had hit back at former Liverpool Dietmar Hamann with a sarcastic message. With Hamann saying that his team need to find a spark, Klopp replied: "Oh great. A fantastic source, well respected everywhere."
