Dimitri Payet nets trademark free-kick to save Brazilian giants from relegation
West Ham icon Dimitri Payet rolled back the years by scoring a last-gasp free-kick for Vasco da Gama.
The Brazilian giants are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone with five games to go, but Payet helped seal an absolutely gargantuan three points for the club as they head into the final weeks of the season. In the fourth minute of added time against bottom side American MG, Payet curled a gorgeous effort over the wall and into top corner to secure a 2-1 victory for his team.
It wasn't quite Crystal Palace-levels of beauty, but the strike was as sensational as any bit of magic the Frenchman, 36, conjured up during his scintillating year-and-a-half stint in the Premier League. And as you might imagine, fans on social media were absolutely loving it.

Vasco da Gama, who have won the Brazil's Serie A four times, aren't safe yet, but their latest win moves them three points clear of Cruzeiro and five clear of Goias – the only teams currently in the relegation places who can feasibly overtake them.
