Dimitar Berbatov's Premier League predictions including Liverpool vs Man Utd
There’s absolutely no letup in the schedule with the some huge Premier League matches to look forward to this weekend.
All eyes will be on Anfield come Sudnay when champions Liverpool take on arch rivals and current leaders Manchester United.
Elsewhere, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side have quietly crept back into contention and will look to extend their recent good run against Crystal Palace, while there is an intriguing west London derby between Fulham and Chelsea to look forward to as well.
As ever, Betfair Ambassador Dimitar Berbatov previews the action for Metro.co.uk…
Wolves v West Brom
I can’t see things getting any easier for Big Sam at West Brom. Football has changed, you can only count on long balls and getting the ball into the box and trying to win the headers hoping it goes into the back of the net, you need to be more clever on the pitch these days and with the quality that West Brom have in their side they aren’t really performing to the standards they should be, it’s going to be really tough for them and I can’t see them surviving, I think Wolves will get the better of them in this one. Prediction: 2-0.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Wolves 5/8, Draw 14/5, West Brom 13/2
West Ham v Burnley
I think this one will be a win for West Ham, Burnley can play well on their day and they have had a number of good results this season but I think West Ham should be able to take this one. Prediction: 2-1.
Betfair Exchange Odds: West Ham 10/11, Draw 13/5, Burnley 4/1
Leeds v Brighton
Leeds will be hurting from their embarrassment at the weekend and they need to bounce back from that. They aren’t in a bad position in the league and I think Bielsa will shake them up a bit for this one. Prediction: 3-1.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Leeds 5/4, Draw 11/4, Brighton 5/2
Fulham v Chelsea
What is going on at Chelsea? If they lose this one I think Frank Lampard will definitely be in trouble. They have a lot of new players that aren’t producing as people expect them to, this along with bad luck results in where they are at the moment, I think it’s a momentum thing and once they break out of it they will be fine. That being said, I think it’s a good opportunity for Fulham and I can see them putting even more pressure on Chelsea, so I’m going for a surprise. Prediction: 1-0.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Fulham 6/1, Draw 7/2, Chelsea 4/7
Leicester v Southampton
Leicester are up there and are going under the radar in a way. Southampton are also having a good season and this match promises to be a good game. I think both sides may cancel each other out in this one, so I’m going for a draw. Prediction: 2-2.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Leicester 5/6, Draw 14/5, Southampton 4/1
Sheffield United v Spurs
I was so happy to see Sheffield United win, I know they are having a terrible season, but that win will have lifted a big weight from their shoulders. I don’t see them beating Spurs and in my opinion Mourinho’s side can still surprise a lot of people, the season is long and the focus has shifted away from them at the moment, which will suit Mourinho. Prediction: 0-2.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Sheffield United 11/2, Draw 3/1, Spurs 5/7
Liverpool v Man United
I want to see United make the most of the position they are in and increase their lead at the top to six points clear of Liverpool. It’s going to be a tough game and there is a lot at stake. I think it will be a tactical battle but I don’t care how they do it, I just want to see United win, and I think they will continue to surprise people. Prediction: 1-2.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Liverpool Evens, Draw 3/1, Man United 11/4
Man City v Crystal Palace
City are up there as well in the title race, you can not write them off. They have two games in hand and they are lurking in the shadows. I know this fixture has thrown up some surprises in the past but I think this time City will be far to strong for Crystal Palace. Guardiola won’t be giving up on the title and they will know that they are in a strong position. Prediction: 3-0.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Man City 2/11, Draw 8/1, Crystal Palace 19/1
Arsenal v Newcastle
Arsenal have turned a corner and they are looking a lot better recently. Although they needed extra time against Newcastle in the cup last weekend, I think they will get the job done in 90 minutes in this one. They are playing catch up and they can’t afford any more slips. Prediction: 2-0.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Arsenal 1/2, Draw 4/1, Newcastle 7/1
