Diego Costa floored Chelsea masseur in impromptu boxing match in front of team

Premier League defenders nervously drew breath when they heard Diego Costa was returning.

Wolves’ latest summer signing was a right handful during his three seasons at Chelsea. He pulled, kicked, and snarled at defenders while always getting up close and personal with his opposing counterparts.

When he was not embedding himself into the heads of his opponents, Costa also contributed 59 goals and 23 assists for the Blues in 120 appearances. However, centre-backs are not the only figures in football who should be worried about Costa’s return.

It appears all masseurs need to be weary of the former Atletico Madrid hard-man. That is because a video of Costa flooring the Chelsea masseur in a hilarious boxing contest has re-emerged since his move to the Midlanders.

After absorbing a few slight digs, Costa decided enough was enough, putting the beloved staff member on his backside with a few stiff punches to the midriff. It was a combination that brought the Chelsea squad to their feet and left John Terry in stitches.

Wolves’ masseur and backroom team may need to start working on the pads in preparation for Costa’s next challenge. Costa joined Bruno Lage’s side on a free transfer having spent the best part of nine months without a club.

"I always thought that the Premier League was the best out there, the best in the world. I had the pleasure to play in it, and return again,” Costa said in his first interview as a Wolves player. “In my opinion, from experience, the league has the atmosphere, the way the game is played, the stadiums full of supporters, the pitch in perfect condition, the respect that players have for each other.

"I did think I would be able to do it if I was physically and mentally ready for this new challenge, a difficult one, that I know for sure.

“But mentally, I’m fine. On a physical and psychological level, I will need two to three weeks to get back in shape. But that’s normal since I haven’t done much for a while but I know that I can do it."
