Didier Drogba’s Chelsea advice for final exactly what players need to hear
Chelsea's Champions League hero Didier Drogba has sent the current Blues squad an emotional message ahead of their clash with Manchester City.
Chelsea have won the Champions League just once before with Drogba scoring a crucial equaliser against Bayern Munich in 2012.
The Ivorian striker then slotted away the winning penalty in a tense shootout in Munich.
So he knows exactly what it takes to lift the famous trophy, and has now sent a message to Thomas Tuchel's squad.
In a video via Chelsea's official Twitter account and his own, Drogba said: "Play as if this is your last chance to play in a Champions League game. Rise to the occasion.
"Believe, believe, it is in your DNA, this is our legacy to you. Come on you Blues. Come on Chels!"
Chelsea are underdogs to win the final in Porto despite beating Manchester City in their previous two matches.
Tuchel said: "I would never suggest it's me against him [City boss Pep Guardiola], because we don't have a match of tennis.
"We arrive with our teams, and Pep will prepare his team and I will prepare my team, the best way possible.
"We have had two experiences now against them in different competitions, and two different matches, two different line-ups and tomorrow will be a very different line-up I think from Man City.
"But nevertheless we have the experience of how much we had to suffer, the experience of how brave, how courageous we need also to play in certain moments of the game.
"For me, it's always tough to play against City, Bayern or Barcelona when Pep is at the sideline.
"They create and he creates this team with this huge belief, and this huge success, and continuously winning mentality."
