Derby’s potential new owner Erik Alonso deletes Twitter after ‘fake’ house post

Prospective Derby County owner Erik Alonso has deleted his Twitter account after being accused of reposting a property seen on TikTok to suggest it was his own house.

Alonso, 29, has reportedly failed to provide proof of funds for the English Football League after agreeing to replace current Rams owner Mel Morris in April.

It has been well over a month now since Derby claimed the Spaniard's company, No Limits Sports Limited, had secured a "definitive agreement to purchase the club".

But the Pride Park faithful are still waiting on confirmation of the takeover, and there is now confusion and uncertainty over Alonso's source of funding.

Several Derby fans have been questioning whether he actually has the financial backing required to buy them out, and his humiliating tTik Tok blunder this week has left them in even more doubt.

Alonso posted a video showing off a luxury property on Tuesday along with the caption 'Good Morning', which supporters felt was a dig at those doubting his wealth.

However, one eagle-eyed user quickly spotted that the clip appeared to show the same pad seen in footage posted on TikTok by American real estate agent Davis Pfaff, suggesting Alonso's video is a fake.

A Derby-focused analysis account initially highlighted the copycat move before it went viral on Twitter, and now Alonso's account on the social-media platform cannot be found.
