Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp has been tipped to play a key role in Donny van de Beek’s proposed loan move from Manchester United to Crystal Palace this month. Bergkamp has vested interests on both sides of the deal, which could see the Red Devils outcast given the luxury of regular football between now and the end of the campaign.

Even with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer making way for Ralf Rangnick in the Man Utd dugout, van de Beek’s fortunes have remained much the same.

The versatile midfielder has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford and he is rarely afforded the opportunity to do so.

As the month draws to a close, it seems as though Anthony Martial’s loan exit to Sevilla may provoke a transfer domino effect for the Red Devils.

Fellow United struggler Jesse Lingard is also believed to be keen on a temporary switch, and Van de Beek’s priority is to get regular minutes.

News of a loan proposal from Crystal Palace broke on Tuesday, but in a similar vein to the roadblocks faced by Lingard, things have not progressed quickly since then.

Lingard’s prospective switch to Newcastle United has reportedly been stalled by a mammoth survival bonus which would take the deal close to £1million-per-week for the Magpies if they beat the drop.

And United are not letting Van de Beek go easily either, with two conditions reportedly crucial to the move.

Firstly, they are insistent on no option to buy at the end of the loan stint, and Palace would have to pay his hefty £120,000-a-week wages in full.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira is still believed to be keen on the move, however, and Sky Sports claim that Bergkamp has been in touch with his former team-mate to discuss the player.

Bergkamp and Vieira spent nine years together in north London when Arsene Wenger led Arsenal through a hugely successful period in the club’s history.

And as van de Beek’s father-in-law, the 52-year-old has seemingly opted to put in a good word about what the Dutchman has to offer.

The United outcast reportedly feels let down by United, and specifically former boss Solskjaer who failed to keep promises over game time.

Two goals in 50 appearances is a far cry from the form he showed at Ajax when he hit double digits in each of his last three seasons.

But neither club nor player appears keen to cut their losses and go their separate ways just yet, with the no-option-to-buy clause suggesting that the door is still open for van de Beek if he shows strong form at Selhurst Park.
