Demba Ba offers to come out of retirement to play for Newcastle after takeover
Newcastle United hero Demba Ba has offered to come out of retirement to play for his former side following their £300million takeover.
It was announced on Thursday evening that Newcastle had been bought by the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, who now have an 80 per cent stake in the club.
The new owners are believed to be prepared to invest heavily in the side as they look to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, both financially and on the pitch.
And now the 36-year-old has made a tongue-in-cheek comment about his desire to return to the club where he enjoyed arguably his best spell as a player.
Newcastle fans have been left ecstatic with the announcement, with many gathering outside St James’ for celebrations yesterday.
Meanwhile, others have taken to social media to show their joy.
And when supporter fan expressed his desire to see Hatem Ben Arfa return to the club, another replied: “Ba’s retired but [Papiss] Cisse is [available] on a free as well.”
That led another fan to ask the former striker: “He’ll come out of retirement for us. Won’t you @DembaBafoot?”

The Senegalese played for Newcastle between 2011 and 2013 where he became one of the most feared strikers in the league.
During that time he scored 29 goals in 54 Premier League matches, forming a formidable partnership up-front with compatriot Cisse.
He went on to play for a host of other clubs such as Chelsea, Besiktas, Shanghai Shenhua, Goztepe, Istanbul Basaksehir and Lugano before finally calling time on his career in Switzerland.
