Declan Rice’s brutal 5-word jibe to Jesse Lingard as Man Utd star trains on hols

Wantaway Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has been savaged by his England team-mate Declan Rice after posting a video of himself training on holiday.

Lingard has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window after failing to secure regular minutes under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

West Ham and Newcastle have both been touted as possible destinations for the 29-year-old on account of his past links to the Hammers and the Magpies' new investment.

As it stands, Lingard is going nowhere, but that hasn't stopped the midfielder from trying to impress his suitors with a video of him performing shooting drills.

He took to Instagram on Thursday to show off his predatory instincts in front of goal, alongside the caption: "Working".

However, that prompted a savage response from his former West Ham colleague Rice, who replied: "The keeper lost his hands?"

Lingard enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at the London Stadium last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances.

Rather than seeking a move away from Old Trafford in the summer, the midfielder decided to stay and fight for his place in the side.

But game time has proved difficult to come by following the expensive summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

Lingard is out of contract at the end of the season and interim boss Rangnick has confirmed he won't be offered a new deal.

Speaking earlier this month, the German confirmed there was interest in the England international from a number of clubs.

"He’s a really good player, I see that in every training session. For me it's normal that other clubs like, for example, Newcastle show interest in him," said Rangnick.

"I'm not the one who is dealing with that. I know there might be some interest from other clubs but if you ask me now what will happen in the next 10 days until the closure of the window, I can't answer that question I’m afraid."

Reports on Wednesday suggested Lingard's hopes of a January loan switch to Newcastle were all but over due to United's demands for a £12million survival bonus.
