David Raya’s tattoo won’t go down well with Arsenal fans once he seals move

David Raya's tattoo won't go down too well with Arsenal fans on his arrival.

The Spain international is set to move to Anfield in a transfer that came as a shock following four years at Brentford in which he has remained committed to both the work of Thomas Frank as well as the club and fans.

So committed, in fact, that the 27-year-old has a permanent inking to commemorate a milestone in Brentford history, that will now be on show during his time at the Emirates which could become permanent.

Raya has the date 13/8/21 tattooed just above the shirt line on the back of his neck, which was Brentford's first ever Premier League game – a 2-0 win over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

The result put Brentford top of the table and Arsenal bottom on the opening day of the season, with the two clubs becoming embroiled in a rivalry since.

As well as Bernd Leno clashing with Neil Maupay after suffering from a knee injury after a late challenge, Ivan Toney mocked the Gunners with a later tweet which read: "Nice kick about with the boys."

Arsenal later secured a revenge with a 3-0 win back in September, with defender Gabriel sending out a copy of Toney's earlier tweet.

Raya's move to Arsenal is set to be an initial season-long loan costing £3million, with the option of a permanent move which will cost £27m.

The Spaniard has also extended his contract at Brentford, meaning that his value will likely increase despite him leaving the club.

Ramsdale has also spoken about the potential competition that will come from the arrival, saying that he is more than happy to fight for his place after a fine debut season.

He told ITV Sport: "Bring it on, yeah. Nothing comes easy in football. But also at the same time time you need to move along and need to adapt as well in yourself.

"I've done it to other people when I've moved to clubs so I'm not going to be thinking that it's never going to happen to me.

"I think if it happens, it happens and then we'll fight and we'll make each other the best version of ourselves because that is what the manager is telling us as well."
