David De Gea confirms Man Utd exit and posts emotional message on social media

De Gea gives update on Man Utd future ahead of Sevilla match

David De Gea has confirmed he’s leaving Manchester United this summer. The 32-year-old has posted an emotional message on social media revealing he’s now primed to pursue a new challenge. And it brings a glittering spell at Old Trafford to a close, having joined from Atletico Madrid all the way back in 2011.

De Gea’s contract expired earlier in the month, with United previously agreeing a new deal with the Spain international.

However, the Red Devils then decided to pull the plug at the tail end of June.

And De Gea has now confirmed he’ll be leaving United in order to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

“I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters,” said the goalkeeper.

“I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years.

As for De Gea, it’ll be interesting to see where he goes from here.

The shot-stopper has been linked with Al-Nassr amid Saudi Arabia’s spending spree.

De Gea joined United back in 2011 as a teenager, arriving as a replacement for club legend Edwin van der Sar.

He won the Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson the following year.

And De Gea will leave United having also won two Carabao Cups, three Community Shields, one FA Cup and one Europa League title as well.
