David Beckham’s unexpected hobby ‘kept him up all night’ when on England duty

Superstar David Beckham was often up all night on England duty – playing with LEGO, says an ex-team-mate.

The former Three Lions captain, one of the world's most recognisable faces, is usually associated with glitz and glamour.

But goalkeeper Ben Foster says when Beckham was playing for his country he liked to relax – by building Lego.

Foster said: "He used to bring Lego sets to England. He would go into his room and just do Lego all night. It would proper chill him out. "He would just sit there, do his Lego set, have a nice time. Lovely."

The pair were both named in international squads between 2007 and 2009, with Beckham playing 115 times in total compared to Foster's eight.
