David Beckham has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and expressed a belief Manchester United are on the right track under his former team-mate. The duo were pals at Old Trafford during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign in charge. And Beckham has been impressed by his former side’s form this season.
United started the campaign off in dire form, losing matches to Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
But they’ve since rediscovered their mojo and enter Sunday’s clash with Chelsea sitting second in the Premier League table.
It’s been impressive from Solskjaer who, at one point, looked as though he was going to be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
And Beckham has now given his verdict, hailing the Norwegian and revealing they recently spoke.
“Ole has done really well, he is loved by the fans and the players,” he said at the launch of Inter Miami’s latest shirt.

“He is respected because of what he has done in his career and even in difficult times he has performed and given everyone at United hope.
“I wished him a happy birthday the other day and called him boss. He doesn’t call me that – but I might ask him to.”
Beckham himself is focused on making Inter Miami a MLS superpower.

And the former United, AC Milan, Real Madrid and PSG star has admitted he’d love to bring Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the United States one day.
“I have said from day one that our academy system is a massive part of this club and if we can bring players through here that have lived and breathed Inter Miami then that is the goal,” he said.
“But we also know that being in Miami, our fans want to see the big stars.
“We already have players like Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi who add to the glitz and glamour but also going forward we want to have the opportunity to bring some great names in.
“Leo and Cristiano have been mentioned (in the question just asked), they have been at the top of their game and been the best for the last 15 years because of hard work. There is very little luck behind it.
“Sir Alex Ferguson was the master at choosing the right player, he didn’t always bring the best player in the world, he brought the right player for the club and that is one of the things that I have taken into this place.”
He then added: “The player has to be right for the team, still have ambition and want to win.
“So whatever player we talk to, we have to make sure that is a priority.
“Of course, we always want to bring in great players. Miami is a great pull for anyone and those kinds of players (Messi and Ronaldo) are who we aspire to bring here.”
Beckham is interested in signing United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
He’s already snapped up one former Red Devils star in Ryan Shawcross, who signed earlier this month.
And with Romero out in the cold at Old Trafford, he’s primed to leave at the end of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer’s United are currently preparing for their Premier League showdown with Chelsea on Sunday.
And Solskjaer has praised the Blues ahead of that match, saying: “Yes, Chelsea are always one of the favourites every season for the last 20 seasons.
“We’ve prepared well, we’ve managed to get a few players off [rested on Thursday night] so we should be ready for this game.”
On Thomas Tuchel, he added: “Yeah, you can see a certain style he wants to play.
“He’s had fantastic results since he came and of course we know we’re playing against a team with confidence and they’re in form. He’s a manager who can do different things so we’ve just got to prepare for every scenario possible.”
