Darwin Nunez takes age to go down as fans slam ’embarrassing’ dive and reaction
Darwin Nunez was branded "embarrassing" by fans for his theatrical dive in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League.
Nunez caused a storm when he made a meal of a collision with Ajax ace Calvin Bassey. Bassey, with his back turned, attempted to shield the ball from Nunez, and the defender's arm harmlessly brushed the Reds striker's face in the process.
Nunez was seemingly unphased by the interaction with Bassey, but proceeded to fall the ground moments after. However, his questionable actions were to no avail as the referee let play carry on.

And the Uruguayan ace's dive enraged fans who flocked to Twitter to lambast the forward. One user fumed: "No matter who does it, they should be booked for it. It’s embarrassing."
While another raged: "Every thing you hate about the modern footballer caught here in 5 seconds. Plus a third chimed in with: "It was shockingly embarrassing and he needs to eradicate from his game."
However, Nunez redeemed himself when he doubled Liverpool's lead in the second half with a powerful header. But not before he missed a glaring open goal from five yards out to the horror of Roberto Firminho who expertly teed up his team-mate.

It was another eventful evening for Nunez, who has been under intense scrutiny since making his £85million move from Benfica in the summer. But he seems to be finding his feet slowly after bagging his fourth goal in as many games, following his strike against West Ham last Wednesday.
And Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with the striker as his goal against Ajax helped the Reds gain qualification from their Champions League group. The German tactician will be hoping Nunez will be able to hit the target again when the Reds take on Leeds on Saturday in the Premier League, after their shock loss to Nottingham Forest a week ago.
