Danny Dyer reacts to West Ham triumph as team sing chant about his daughter

West Ham fans discuss Europa Conference League final win

Danny Dyer posted a simple two-word message to his Instagram account following West Ham United’s historic Europa Conference League triumph after their players were filmed singing a foul-mouthed song about his daughter while celebrating their achievement. Jarrod Bowen popped up with a last-gasp winner for the Hammers to seal a memorable victory over Fiorentina in Prague, which saw them get their hands on their first major continental trophy since 1965.

Bowen, who shares two daughters with girlfriend Dani Dyer, was at the heart of the post-match celebrations and was serenaded by his fellow West Ham stars in the dressing room with his signature chant of: ‘Bowen’s on fire and he’s s***ing Dani Dyer!’. The song appeared to be taken well by Bowen himself, while the father of his partner also seemed unbothered as he took to Instagram to revel in the moment.

Dyer, a lifelong Hammers supporter, shared an image of Bowen lifting the Europa Conference League trophy high above his head with the caption: “F****** perfect,” accompanied by a red heart emoji. He has previously revealed that he is not opposed to the X-rated chant about his daughter being sung by West Ham fans at games, with the former Eastenders star even going as far to say that he finds it ‘quite sweet’.

“There is a chant, which I think is quite sweet,” said Dyer during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show earlier this year. “When he scores, and he does score a lot, [the fans chant]: ‘Bowen’s on fire and he’s s***ing Dani Dyer!’. I’ve been over there when they’re singing it, jumping around. Is that wrong?”

It did not mark the first time that Dyer had joked about the chant, which he previously alluded to on social media after Bowen’s goals helped fire West Ham to the Europa League semi-finals last season. He tweeted: “Jarrod Bowen is on fire…and he’s… cuddling me daughter or something. So proud. What a f****** night. Love to all the West Ham family.”

Bowen, meanwhile, was interrupted by a rowdy fan singing the chant during a live post-match interview on BT Sport after West Ham’s impressive victory over Fiorentina in Wednesday’s final. He wasted no time in sticking out an arm to push the fan away while telling him: “Leave, leave, leave,” before underlining his disbelief after writing his name into Hammers folklore by scoring the winning goal.

“I obviously dreamed of scoring but to score the winner in the last minute, it’s what you always say you want to do,” he said. “To do it in front of these fans, I thought I was going to cry. I’m just happy. We had a dream, we haven’t had the best season, myself included, but to give these fans this moment, I’m over the moon.

“I think in my position, you make that run 10 times and you might get that ball once. As soon as you get it you’ve got to put it away. Never [have I felt like this in my life].

“This is the biggest game of my career. The emotion, there was time for one more chance. I’m just so happy. I’m over the moon. I’m thinking of the party tonight. Listen to it [the fans celebrating], listen.”
