Dani Ceballos makes Sergio Ramos contract prediction after speaking to Real Madrid captain

Arsenal: Dani Ceballos works out at home in lockdown

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos “wants to finish his career” at the Bernabeu, according to his team-mate Dani Ceballos. Arsenal loanee Ceballos claims he spoke to Ramos recently and he expects the Real defender to extend his stay at the club. Ramos’ current contract expires at the end of the season.

Ramos is free to speak to foreign clubs regarding a free transfer in the summer.

Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the 34-year-old.

But Ceballos says, after having a conversation with Ramos, he expects him to sign a new contract with Los Blancos.

“I spoke with Ramos today and if I had to bet I would say that he is renewing for Real Madrid,” Ceballos told Spanish radio show El Larguero.

“I think he wants to finish his career there.”

Speaking in December, Real boss Zinedine Zidane also stated his belief that Ramos will stay for the long term.

Speaking about his own future, Zidane said: “I have a contract until 2022. So I’m not going to ask for anything.

“I’m going to keep working. I’m happy to be at this great club. I’m lucky to say I’m at the best club in the world. I just hope that the players can stay and that we can keep working with them.

“When a player wants to stay that means a lot. With Sergio Ramos, I see him staying for many years.

Ramos has made 666 appearances in all competitions for Real since joining from Sevilla in 2005.

The Spain star has won four Champions League trophies and five La Liga titles during his time at the club.

Meanwhile, Ceballos insists he wants to return to Real this summer.

The 24-year-old is currently spending a second season on loan at Premier League club Arsenal.

But the midfielder wants to become a key member of the Real squad next term.

“A third year on loan? No, my goal is to return to Real Madrid and be important at the best club in the world,” Ceballos added.

“I believe that one day I will come back and be able to return the affection that the fans showed me.

“For various reasons, I didn’t leave the club in the best manner.”
