Cristiano Ronaldo's mum had an emotional reaction to watching her son score on his return for Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The 36-year-old forward tapped home from inside the six-yard box in first-half stoppage time to put United 1-0 up against Newcastle United.
It was his 119th goal for the Red Devils and his first since joining the club for a second time, having signed from Juventus on transfer deadline day before the international break.
After the break, Ronaldo added a second goal on his return after Javi Manquillo had equalised for the visitors shortly after the interval.
Ronaldo's mum, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, was pictured in the crowd at Old Trafford after watching her son score the first goal of his second spell at United.
She could be seen wiping away tears of joy after seeing her son return with a goal after 12 years away from the Premier League.
Ronaldo joined United as a teenager before enjoying a successful six seasons in Manchester that delivered three Premier League titles and one Champions League.
He finished as top scorer in 2008/09 with 31 goals and with his goals on Saturday, needs just 14 more to reach 100 in the Premier League.
This would pair with his records as the leading goal scorer in both club and international football, breaking the international football record with a brace against the Republic of Ireland last week.
