Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum wants him to return to Sporting Lisbon after Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo's mum believes her son should end his career where it all began at Sporting Lisbon when his time is up at Manchester United.
Ronaldo made a sensational return to Old Trafford this summer after 12 years away, signing from Juventus for £12.5 million.
A five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Ronaldo has won it all at club level with titles in Spain, England and Italy as well as his five Champions League medals.
The Portuguese legend has also started life back in Manchester on fire, scoring four times in his opening three matches with United hoping to claim a first Premier League trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.
For many fans, the realisation that their prodigal son has returned home is yet to sink in but Ronaldo's mum, Dolores Aveiro, is already looking ahead to the day her son leaves Manchester.
The hope for her is that he returns to boyhood club Sporting Lisbon where she remains a huge fan.
"Ronaldo has to come back here," Aveiro said on the club's YouTube channel. "If it were my choice, he would already be here.
"He likes to watch Sporting games. I've already told him: 'Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting'. He says 'let's see'."

The 36-year-old has penned a two-year deal in Manchester with the club having the option to automatically trigger a further year.
But despite his age, Ronaldo has shown no signs of slowing down; Talksport report that when he completed his medical with Juventus in 2018, it was revealed he had the capabilities of a 20-year-old.
The Portuguese marksman is extremely strict with his fitness routine and meal preparation; he takes no short cuts.
His mum will be hoping that doesn't mean a dream reunion at Sporting Lisbon is an unrealistic fantasy.
To quote the man himself: "We'll see."
