Things are starting to turn very sour at Manchester United, quickly. The recent revelations about cliques in the dressing room starting to form and key players keen for a fresh face in the dugout could just be the surface of their issues.
The Red Devils were outclassed by Wolves on Monday night in a 1-0 defeat, courtesy of a goal from Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho.
And in turn, it left Moutinho’s international teammate Ronaldo looking infuriated with everyone in his sight as he stormed down the tunnel.
The 36-year-old has scored eight goals and assisted three in 18 appearances, but his homecoming has fallen well below par due to the players’ expectations of helping the club back to their glory days.
But a lot of blame is also being put on the former Real Madrid forward due to how he is conducting himself on and off the pitch, and Trevor Sinclair believes rivals Manchester City will be breathing a sigh of relief that they didn’t manage to secure his signature over the summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Cityzens forward Sinclair said: “I’m starting to think that Manchester City dodged a bullet by not signing Cristiano Ronaldo, I really think that,
“I think you look at some of the players that are really struggling for form at Manchester United, young players, [Jadon] Sancho, [Marcus] Rashford. I know Rashford has got a lot of experience but they’re really struggling for good performances.”
Sinclair was then posed the question: “But can you blame Ronaldo for that? You put Ronaldo in that City side and he’d score a bundle of goals.
To which he replied: “Course you can. Know your role, you’re a footballer. You’re hired by the football club. Keep your mouth shut, at times. That’s the best thing to do. I think he’s causing a lot of problems at the football club.”

United appeared to have hijacked City’s deal to sign Ronaldo over the summer from Juventus after Pep Guardiola’s side were unable to convince Tottenham to part ways with striker Harry Kane despite their £100million bid.
However, Sinclair went on to say that he wouldn’t be shocked if the manager of the Red Devils at the time, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and his softer approach may have played a role in Ronaldo opting to return to his former club.
“It’s not just his lack of goals of recent times, but the fact that Ole’s gone, and then Michael [Carrick] went in and dropped in for a game.
“I just feel it’s been one of them signings where it looked good, but it’s far from good. And for me, one of the reasons I think he may not have considered Man City, and it’s certainly not for winning trophies because he would have won silverware there, I think it’s because he didn’t want to be second fiddle to Pep [Guardiola].
“Whereas he can go to Man Utd, he could almost feel like he could bully Ole a little bit, obviously Michael was a stand-in manager and then Ralf’s [Rangnick] gone in there and I think he just wants to do what he wants for him, and it’s not the best for the club.”
United will be without a manager at the end of the season and are currently weighing up their future options.
The Daily Star revealed that Ronaldo would consider leaving the club if Rangnick’s tenure at the club’s helm is extended, which could end up having a role to play in the decision.
PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino was linked heavily with the initial vacancy when Solskjaer departed and one would assume that the Argentine will be considered again this summer, as well as Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City.
It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo can turn things around for United this season and help them secure Champions League football, or if it will take a new manager to reinvigorate the entire team.
