Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Man Utd's win against West Ham

Cristiano Ronaldo urged his Manchester United team-mates to remain ‘together’, ‘strong’ and ‘focused’ after they came through a tough test against West Ham on Sunday.

The Red Devils had gone a goal down at the London Stadium after half an hour, but Ronaldo replied with a tap-in from his own rebounded shot to get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side back on level terms just five minutes later.

That goal was the 36-year-old’s fourth in his three games back at United since re-signing for the club on a two-year deal in the summer.

It took a stunning winner from substitute Jesse Lingard late on to earn United the win, while David de Gea saved a last-gasp penalty from Mark Noble to secure the three points.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Ronaldo wrote: ‘Every game in the Premier League is always an amazing fight for the three points.

‘Today we got to see a glimpse of all the obstacles that we will find on our way, but we have to keep our mind set on our goals.

‘Together! Strong! Focused! Let’s go, Devils! 💪🏽’

In scoring the winner, Lingard made up for his costly error in United’s 2-1 loss to Young Boys in midweek, and the 28-year-old was glad to contribute.

‘That’s football,’ he told MUTV. ‘It’s the highs and lows of football, and the lads and the staff and fans have been behind me all week and it’s great to get minutes today and come on.

‘It was a great reception from the West Ham fans. I had a brilliant time here, but I had to do my bit today.

‘West Ham are always hard to break down and when you find space like that in the box and get 1v1, you’ve got to try and make half a yard, and I like that finish into the far corner, so as soon as I got half a yard and the space opened up, I knew what I wanted to do.’
