Cristiano Ronaldo ordered to start scoring more Man Utd goals by Ralf Rangnick
Ralf Rangnick has ordered Cristiano Ronaldo to start scoring more goals for Manchester United.
But the German coach admits even the Portuguese superstar needs more help from his team-mates when it comes to hitting the back of the net.
Ronaldo's return to United from Juventus last summer was supposed to help the club get back to the top of English football.
But the move is in danger of turning into a nightmare, with Ronaldo not expected to take up the option of extending his deal an extra 12 months.
Ronaldo, who was dropped from the United side for the midweek draw at rock-bottom Burnley, is planning face-to-face talks with his agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal next month when he his national side face Turkey in a crunch World Cup qualifier.
In the meantime, Rangnick wants to see both Ronaldo and United start scoring more goals to boost their chances of securing a top four finish.
Ronaldo has failed to score in his last five appearances and Rangnick, whose side host Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday, said: "It's not only about Cristiano Ronaldo.
"He should score more goals. It's obvious we are creating chances and opportunities, but just don't score enough goals.
"It's not just an issue with Cristiano, it's an issue with other players. We don't score enough goals. If you bear in mind how many chances we create, this needs to get better on coming weeks."
