Cristiano Ronaldo makes ref overturn Al Nassr penalty but then they fail to win
Cristiano Ronaldo told a referee to overturn a penalty awarded to him – with Al-Nassr then failing to beat their Iranian opponents.
The Saudi Pro League side hosted Persepolis in the AFC Champions League on Monday (November 27) night. The match looked to have got off to the perfect start for them when Ronaldo went down in the box inside the first two minutes.
He fell to the floor as defender Ali Nemati challenged for the ball. Chinese referee Ma Ning, who's been an international official for FIFA since 2011, immediately pointed to the spot.

But Ronaldo got back to his feet and wagged his finger to suggest it was the wrong decision. Ning was duly sent to the VAR monitor and he reversed his initial decision.
Al-Nassr then had their centre-back Ali Lajami sent off after just 17 minutes. And Persepolis managed to hold the 10 men, which included not only Ronaldo but also Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Otavio and Aymeric Laporte, to a 0-0 draw.

"Respect!!! This guy is winning me over on a daily basis," commented a third, while a fourth added: "What a man! This is the kind of mentality that separates him. Ronaldo is the best both in attitude and character."
A fifth joked: "A part of me is happy that my goat is generous and the other part is unhappy cause that's -1 for our 1000 goal landmark."

Ronaldo is gunning to reach 1,000 career goals before he retires, a goal he revealed last month having been challenged to it by Porto's president, Jorge Nuno Pinto.
"It will be quite difficult, but it’s about my mindset and my motivation," he said. "If, physically, my legs treat me as well as I treat them… We'll see, these are small steps.
"Before I reach 1000 I have to reach 900 first. I believe I will reach it. Now I always think about short-term goals. The target for 900 goals? I'm confident, but for 1,000 goals it's a lot of stone to break."
