A number of blockbuster transfers could take place this summer and there is a possibility that Manchester United may miss out on Harry Kane, in which Cristiano Ronaldo would be the catalyst. And not because the Portugal international has any plans of returning to Old Trafford.
Kane apparently has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he can leave north London this summer.
United are one of a number of giant clubs keeping a close tab on the England international.
However, a transfer merry-go-round could be sparked if Ronaldo decides to leave Juventus at the end of the season.
Juve are fifth in the Serie A table heading into the final match. If they miss out on the Champions League spots then the five-time Ballon d’Or winner may choose to move on.
The Italian giants will then look at potential replacements, with Spanish publication Sport claiming Antoine Griezmann is their top target.
JUST IN: Sporting Lisbon want to repeat Bruno Fernandes transfer with Manchester United
Griezmann has struggled to adjust to life at the Nou Camp following his £107million move from Atletico Madrid in 2019.
He could be allowed to move on so that Ronald Koeman can bring in his own players to start rebuilding the club.
And Barca could rival United and Manchester City for Kane, who wants to challenge for the biggest trophies in the world.
Playing alongside Lionel Messi would boost the 27-year-old’s hopes of having a glittering career.

Barcelona joining the race for Kane would be a blow for United as it would drive up Spurs’ asking price and the striker’s wage demands.
The Red Devils are also hoping to capture a centre-back, central midfielder and right winger before the 2021/22 campaign get underway.
So the more elite clubs in the running for Kane, the more expensive he will be.
Kane has recently been discussing his future at White Hart Lane, telling Gary Neville on Sky Sports’ The Overlap: “I think so [this is a crossroads moment in my career]. I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club.
“Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments. Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.
“I want to be in them games. So for sure, it’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman. I hope that we can have that conversation.
“I’m sure that he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career this moment in time.”
