Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly joined a Manchester United WhatsApp group in a bid to improve player morale among the Red Devils squad.

The veteran forward has been particularly vocal about the atmosphere among the playing squad since he returned to the club in the summer.

He slammed the attitude of his team-mates and accused some of his younger team-mates of ignoring the advice being offered to them as the club's form stagnated earlier in the season.

However, Ronaldo has now taken a step towards improving his relationship with his younger colleagues, some of whom are almost half the age of the 36-year-old.

The Sun reports that he has joined a group on WhatsApp messenger that is used by several of the club's younger stars.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Jesse Lingard are all said to be in the group, as well as midfielder Joe Garner, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

It is thought that Ronaldo has chosen to join the group in a bid to clear the United dressing room of cliques.

An insider told The Sun: “His life is very different to the younger ones who are just starting in the game.

“Some are a bit star-struck by him but are really happy he’s joined the group and are delighted he is messaging everyone and joining in.

“It makes him much more approachable, especially at a time when some of the younger members of the squad have been struggling with form.”

Since returning to Old Trafford at the end of August, Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in all competitions included six in five Champions League matches and is the club's top scorer this season.
