Cristiano Ronaldo has £50k ice chamber shipped from Italy to help keep fit

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly had a £50,000 cryotherapy ice chamber shipped in from Italy to help him keep fit for Manchester United this season.

Ronaldo secured an emotional return to Old Trafford back in August, waving goodbye to Juventus and putting pen to paper on a two-year contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The Portugal superstar has made a flying start to his second United spell, scoring five goals in his first six appearances so far.

But at 36 years of age, Solskjaer will have to use CR7 wisely throughout the campaign to ensure he gets the best out of him.

And according to The Sun, Ronaldo has spent thousands of pounds on an ice bath which will help keep him in top condition throughout the campaign.

He has had the cryotherapy chamber transported from Italy to his rented mansion in Manchester, something he has used since 2013 at Real Madrid.

It is capable of applying temperatures as low as -200C, which helps treat and rehabilitate human tissue.

Ronaldo has to wear mitts before getting into the body-sized capsule, with liquid nitrogen pumped into the air surrounding the cylinder to cool down his body.

Users can only spend a maximum of five minutes in the chamber, as any longer would pose a serious health risk.

Advocates of the chamber insist it boosts blood circulation and improves the immune system, while also decreasing fatigue and helping injuries mend quicker.

A source said: “Ronaldo is meticulous in how he looks after his body and will do anything to gain an edge. It wasn’t an easy feat getting the cryotherapy chamber transported from Italy to Cheshire, but he’s happy now it’s here as it will aid him in his post-match recovery routine.
