Cristiano Ronaldo has sensationally been dropped by Manchester United caretaker head coach Michael Carrick for the Red Devils’ important Premier League clash with Chelsea. Carrick is naming the team for what is likely the final time as Ralf Rangnick reportedly prepares to be appointed as interim boss.

The move is likely to frustrate Ronaldo, who was angered when he was removed from the starting 11 by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of a league match against Everton at the start of the campaign.

There has been a debate over where the legendary forward will fit in under likely interim manager Rangnick, who prefers an energetic, high-pressing style of football.

Ronaldo has at times been criticised for his inability to press the opposition.

However, that has been outweighed by his incredible output in front of goal this season. The Portugal captain has saved United countless times.
