Cristiano Ronaldo being investigated by police over possible Covid-19 breach
Cristiano Ronaldo could have landed himself in hot water after taking a ski trip which may have broken Italy's Covid-19 rules.
The Juventus forward is being investigated by police after travelling to the resort of Courmayeur in the city of Aosta with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez to celebrate her 27th birthday.
Valle d'Aosta police confirmed to Reuters that an investigation is underway into a trip to the Alpine town of Courmayeur by Ronaldo and his girlfriend on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Italian laws state that trips to the region of Val d'Aosta are currently not permitted due to the area being in the medium-to-high risk orange zone.
And according to Italian news agency ANSA Ronaldo could be punished as a result.
He is unlikely to suffer too much financial hardship, however, with a fine of just €400 (£354) the norm for such cases.
The only exception to the rule is if those who have travelled own a second home in the area.
It is believed Ronaldo and Rodriguez stayed in a hotel that was officially closed.
And they were filmed on a snowmobile in a video which circulated on social media but was later deleted.
Rodriguez shared a number of posts on her Instagram account showing pictures of her birthday celebrations.
One picture displayed her with a cake surrounded by Ronaldo and his children.
The caption read: "Thanks so much for all the love I have received – for all your best wishes, attention and all the lovely messages. I am very lucky."
Ronaldo also posted a picture of the pair on her birthday, along with the caption: "Congratulations to the love of my life."
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has had another prolific season in Serie A, scoring 15 times in 15 matches.
He was rested for his side's 4-0 win over SPAL in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, but should return for Juventus' league match against Sampdoria on Saturday.
