Conte rejects Eden Hazard and ‘tells Daniel Levy of concerns from Chelsea days’
Antonio Conte has told Tottenham chief Daniel Levy to avoid signing Eden Hazard after regaling him some horror stories from his Chelsea past, reports suggest.
The Belgium international has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League after a torrid time at Real Madrid.
Hazard admitted it was always his dream to play at the Bernabeu and that came true in 2019 when Chelsea sold him for over £100million.
But it has turned into a nightmare for the forward, who has been stricken by a series of injuries.
Now in his third season with Los Blancos, Hazard has largely been limited to appearances from the bench and has scored just four times in La Liga.
With Carlo Ancelotti in charge, it was believed the Italian could unlock the 30-year-old’s attacking flair but that has failed to transpire.
The Belgium international has played just 11 times across all competitions and has yet to hit the net.
A return to the Premier League has been mooted with a romantic return to Chelsea on the cards but it remains to be seen whether they would make a move for their old talisman.
Tottenham have also emerged as a potential option but Conte has warned Spurs chairman Levy over signing the 30-year-old.
According to OK Diario, the former Blues manager has revealed to his new club’s hierarchy that Hazard was problematic for him at Chelsea.
Conte has a very strict regime over how he coaches players – right down to what they are eating – and that never fared well with the Stamford Bridge poster boy.
Hazard has often treated training as a chore and never pushes himself too hard outside of match day – the complete antithesis to Conte’s methods.
Yet the former Lille star had some of his best performances under the feisty Italian, scoring 16 times in the Premier League as Chelsea romped to the title in his first season in charge.

Even his total of 12 the following year was not too bad considering the way in which Conte imploded at the club.
But the former Inter Milan boss is keen to veto any move that would see him reunited with the winger and would prefer Gareth Bale if the opportunity arose.
The Welshman signed for Spurs last season but the option to make it permanent was not taken up by Levy while the forward is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
