Conor McGregor promises to ‘get a fight on’ after pushing his comeback bout against Michael Chandler into 2024 by missing drug testing deadline
- Conor McGregor was due to make his comeback against Michael Chandler
- It is now unlikely take place until 2024 after McGregor missed a USADA deadline
- The two-time UFC champion promised to ‘get a fight on’ despite the setback
Conor McGregor told fans he will ‘get a fight on’ after failing to meet the USADA drug testing deadline to stage their fight this year.
McGregor has been out of the USADA pool since the third quarter of 2021 and must complete six months of random drug testing with the UFC’s official anti-doping partner before being cleared to fight.
The Irishman had been expected to face Michael Chandler on December 16 this year, but after failing to enroll with USADA by June 16, the bout looks unlikely.
After leaving a hotel in New York to see a crowd gathered for him, McGregor told TMZ he would ‘get a fight on’ and thanked the fans for their ‘support’.
Just when that fight will happen remains a mystery, with the two-time UFC champion still absent from USADA’s online database.

He has not appeared in the Octagon since July 2021, where he lost by technical knockout to Dustin Poirier after breaking his fibia.
Chandler is less than impressed with the situation, and took to social media to give his thoughts on McGregor.
‘Alright guys, you guys have all seen the news: Conor’s not in USADA,’ said Chandler.
‘One hundred and seventy-nine days left until December 16, which is supposed to be the last pay-per-view of the year.
‘And comically, USADA shows up at my door today to add insult to injury. Where you at, boy?’
Chandler and McGregor recently wrapped up filming for the latest season of the Ultimate Fighter which pits both men off as coaches before they face each other for real.
The fourth episode was aired on Tuesday which saw Chandler move 4-0 ahead of McGregor in the competition with a win for his veteran bantamweight Timur Valiev.
If they do eventually fight, it will be an important evening for the American after three losses in his past four.
As with McGregor, Chandler’s most recent fight ended in defeat to Poirier last November.
