Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has admitted his desire for Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun to join him in the USMNT. Balogun has been in talks with USA boss Anthony Hudson after posting a cryptic message on Instagram suggesting he was frustrated with his England snub.

Only Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David, with 19, have scored more times in Ligue 1 than the New York-born striker’s 17-goal tally on loan at Reims this season.

However, there was no place for him in Gareth Southgate’s first squad since the World Cup as Euro 2024 qualifying commences.

Balogun was instead selected for the U21s, who he has represented 13 times, but later withdrew through injury.

And after the FA announced the squads, he took to social media to write: “In life, go where you’re appreciated.”

It fuelled speculation about a potential switch of international alliances, and Pulisic has weighed in on the rumblings.

A day after Hudson confirmed he had spoken with Balogun, Pulisic confirmed he would be welcomed into the USMNT with open arms.

On Friday, he told reporters: “Obviously, I’ve seen that he’s in Florida. I haven’t really spoken to him personally.

“But I know some of the guys that know him from previous teams or whatever have reached out to him and spoken to him. Obviously, from our side, we’d love to have him.”

Before his England U21 appearances, Balogun played four times for the USA’s U18s side. Given that he has yet to make his senior Three Lions debut, he can still revert to the Stars and Stripes.

He travelled to Florida after dropping out of the latest England U21 squad, where the US have been stationed this week.

The Gunners ace has been spotted at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, where he posed with a custom New York Yankees jersey with reliever Tommy Kahnle.

While posting photos of his training on Instagram, he also has mixed work with leisure by attending an Orlando Magic game and snapping a pic with forward Jonathan Isaac.
