Christensen has 'no idea' whether his Chelsea deal will be extended

Andreas Christensen in the dark over his Chelsea future as he admits he has ‘no idea’ whether his contract at Stamford Bridge will be extended past the end of this season

Andreas Christensen is reportedly uncertain over his future at Chelsea, with his current contract at Stamford Bridge expiring at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old is happy with life at the European champions and has been impressive since Thomas Tuchel was appointed as manager at the start of the year.

He has yet to come to terms on a new deal however, and will be free to speak to foreign clubs in January. 

Andreas Christensen’s contract at Chelsea expires at the end of the current campaign

The centre-back has told Danish publication BT that his relationship with the club is good, but that he has ‘no idea’ what is happening with his contract situation.

He said: ‘I will not comment on it, because you know everything that has been written.

‘I can’t do that at all. I feel valued, I’m happy, but I don’t get into the contract situation.

Christensen though has said he has ‘no idea’ what is happening with his contract situation

‘I’m still happy and I enjoy football, so there’s not so much. I have no idea about it at all, I do not feel that there is any pressure or anything, I just enjoy it.

‘I don’t know why everyone thinks it’s a bad situation. [Chelsea] have a player who right now enjoys playing football and the coach shows him confidence.

‘There is no bad relationship, there is nothing.’

Christensen is not the only centre-back at Chelsea who finds himself in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Defensive partner Antonio Rudiger’s contract also expires at the end of the season

Antonio Rudiger is set to be a free agent next summer and will also be able to speak to foreign clubs in January.

Christensen joined Chelsea as a youngster in 2012 and has made 140 appearances for the club.

The likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on the Danish international’s contract situation.
