Chris Kamara announces first job since leaving Sky Sports with new BBC show

Chris Kamara has announced his first job since leaving Sky Sports, with the BBC swooping in to give the legendary pundit his own podcast.

Kamara recently revealed he would be departing Sky after 24 years, having become a fan favourite on Soccer Saturday and Goals on Sunday. The former Portsmouth star will not be out of earshot for long though, with the BBC announcing that he would presenting a new podcast.

Titled 'Unbelievable' after his catchphrase, Kamara will be joined by former Goals on Sunday co-presenter Ben Shephard. The show has been promised to feature the 'biggest names' in the sport as it provides a 'feel-good football conversation'.

More details are to be revealed in the summer, with the BBC selecting Kamara as their star replacement for Peter Crouch, who has taken his own podcast to rival Acast. Kamara is delighted to get started on his new venture and delivered a cheeky link to his time on Soccer Saturday in announcing his move.

“There has been a sub but for who @petercrouch. Coming soon on @BBCSounds myself & my big mate @benshephard are together again with all the guests & more football that [sic] we had on Goals on Sunday," he tweeted.

Kamara added in a press release: “This is a dream transfer and I can’t wait to tell you more about my new BBC podcast later this summer. Expect top guests, unbelievable stories and plenty of laughs as Ben and I delve into the footballing world.”

Jeff Stelling had originally been slated to feature alongside Kamara, but opted to stay at Sky for at least another season. But the director of BBC Sounds, Jonathan Wall, is over the moon to welcome the beloved Kammy to the corporation.

“We are delighted to welcome such an array of talent to the BBC Sounds line-up. Kammy leads a feast of footballing shows. Today marks another big step change in the BBC’s ambitions in podcasting across storytelling, sport and entertainment,” he said.
