Bayern Munich have sensationally discussed the possibility prising Timo Werner from his difficult spell at Chelsea. The German has not quite hit the heights expected of him following his £47million transfer last year and has already found himself down the pecking order.
There was plenty of hype about Werner when he initially arrived at Stamford Bridge. The 25-year-old had scored 28 Bundesliga goals for RB Leipzig in the season before he joined.
But he netted just six times in the Premier League for Chelsea last term. Jorginho registered one more and each of them were penalties.
Werner registered 11 strikes in all competitions, and one was the clinching goal in the Champions League semi-final second leg victory over Real Madrid.
However, that was not enough to convince Thomas Tuchel not to make an elite goalscorer a top transfer window priority.

Erling Haaland was initially sought but Borussia Dortmund remained firm in their stance that the Norwegian starlet would not be sold. The Blues instead re-signed Romelu Lukaku in a blockbuster £97.5m deal.
Tuchel has insisted that Werner remains a key part of his plans and can play in a wider position next to Lukaku, but the forward has not started a Premier League match since the first day of the season.
Werner could now leave the Blues if he continues to find himself below Lukaku, who scored on his debut against Arsenal last month.
German outlet Sport1 have claimed that Bundesliga champions Bayern have spoken about a return to Germany for Werner.

They claim that the Bavarians are keen to have a team full of the Germany national team and rate Werner’s chances of signing for the club in the future at 70 per cent.
However, a transfer in the immediate future is unlikely. Werner signed a five-year contract when he was signed by Frank Lampard last summer and earns around £250,000 per week.

The player’s agency, Sport360, also advise Bayern stars Niklas Sule, Dayot Upamecano and new boss Julian Nagelsmann.
Last month, Blues boss Tuchel suggested that Lukaku’s arrival will help Werner.
“I truly believe that this can be a big upgrade for [Werner],” Tuchel said after Lukaku’s arrival.
“Having the attention on Romelu, who likes to be in the centre of the pitch and to fight physically with defenders, can create space for Timo.
“[With] the position, he can play a bit wider than he used to play for us last season.
“To play around Romelu, who is like the reference as a number nine, he hopefully gives Timo the freedom and the space to play around him and feel that it’s easier to find more dangerous spaces and start scoring again.”
