Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham says goodbye, Hakimi edges closer and Inter eye Kovacic
Chelsea have shown no signs of slowing down their busy summer of transfer activity ahead of the new season.
The 2020/21 Champions League winners already have a strong squad and a highly talented head coach in Thomas Tuchel but are unwilling to rest on their laurels.
A number of players appear to be on their way out of the club with Tuchel’s preferred system meaning the likes of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud could be surplus to requirements.
Meanwhile several high profile transfer targets are being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, the most recent being Inter Milan speedster Achraf Hakimi.
Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer news below.
Hakimi transfer progress
Chelsea have made progress in their pursuit of 22-year-old right-back Hakimi.
They have reportedly made a £51.6million offer which is lower than the £68million Inter want, but the Italians are open to a deal which also includes players Marcos Alonso and David Zappacosta.
Hakimi signed for Inter from Real Madrid for a fee of £34million last summer and hit the ground running with 7 goals and 11 assists last campaign.
Inter’s financial cutbacks as a result of the pandemic mean they would be willing to let the Moroccan go for the right fee despite his outstanding contributions under Antonio Conte, who has also left the club.

Abraham and Tomori's emotional goodbye
Striker Tammy Abraham has sent an tear-jerking message to fellow Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori ahead of the latter’s £24million move to AC Milan.
Abraham’s said on his Instagram post: “From the ground up, we grew together, we grinded together, even when they doubted us.
“We’ve come so far! & this is just the start. Good luck in this new challenge. Going to miss you brother.”
Abraham, 23, looks set to follow Tomori out of Stamford Bridge this summer after rumours surfaced suggesting he would be included in a player plus cash deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Inter want Kovacic on a loan-deal
Inter are reportedly pursuing Mateo Kovacic as they look to bolster their midfield options.
The 2020/21 Scudetto winners have been eyeing up a number of midfielders this transfer window including AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu, but have become more desperate after their midfield maestro Christian Eriksen is unlikely to play again.
Kovacic featured 42 times for the Blues last season though injuries were an issue, meaning he could be snatched by Inter on a season-long loan if Tuchel trusts youngster Billy Gilmour to step up.
