Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku wants to stay at Inter and opens up on Todd Boehly chat

Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku has revealed he hopes to remain in Italy instead of returning to Chelsea over the summer.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge in 2021, but he struggled in the Premier League – and 12 months later, he was back in Serie A. The Belgian has now revealed, after speaking to Todd Bohely, he will look to leave west London on a more long-term basis.

He told Sky Italia: "I hope to stay at Inter also in the future. I want to continue here as I love this club, we will speak to Chelsea in order to find a solution. Todd Boehly decided to let me leave after I told him the truth about my relationship with Tuchel."

Lukaku produced his best campaign in Italy, and his goals fired Inter to their first scudetto in over a decade during the 2020/21 season.

However, he wasn't able to replicate his form in England's top flight when he came for his redemption season in the Premier League. Lukaku struggled at Chelsea, and injuries have limited the Belgian to just four appearances this season in Italy.

Lukaku has one Serie A goal to his name – against Lecce on the opening day of the season.

The Belgian also failed to impress at the World Cup – where his performance in Belgium's final group game earned ridicule on social media.

Lukaku missed a hatful of chances as Belgium's golden generation fell in Qatar – in their final opportunity to win a major honour.
