Chelsea’s plan to sign Haaland includes selling Werner
Chelsea are ready to launch an audacious bid to bring Erling Haaland to Stamford Bridge that includes selling Timo Werner, it has been claimed.
The Covid pandemic has hit Borussia Dortmund hard and the Bundesliga giants may be forced to sell some of their biggest stars to raise funds.
Haaland does have a €75million (£64m) release clause in his contract that becomes active next season but the club have already hinted that they may need a cash injection before then.
“If there are going to be no spectators in stadiums next season then we have to start thinking about selling players," the club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said.

"We won’t go madly asking for bank credit to avoid that.”
The Chelsea board apparently made Haaland their No.1 transfer target before Thomas Tuchel's arrival, with the German changing nothing now he's in charge.
And according to Football Insider, it seems the club want Haaland so desperately that they're willing to include Timo Werner in the deal.
Haaland's fee this summer will be significantly higher than his release clause so any deal would be Werner plus cash on top.
The German has endured a mixed season at Stamford Bridge, netting 10 goals and setting up a further nine in 38 appearances.
And if these reports are to be believed it seems the Chelsea hierarchy are prepared to use him as leverage to bring in Haaland.

Chelsea do face competition for the 20-year-old, however.
Both Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in acquiring the striker's services.
City want to plan for life beyond Sergio Aguero while United view Haaland as Romelu Lukaku's natural successor at the club.
Any deal this summer will likely come in around the £100m mark.
