Chelsea ‘want Neymar in double PSG swoop’ but Man Utd may block move
Lampard outlines issues at play for Chelsea
Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Neymar as part of a double Paris Saint-Germain transfer swoop this summer, though may have to worry about rivals Manchester United during their pursuit. The Brazilian’s future in the French capital may be under question as he, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have failed to bring home the Champions League.
While Chelsea are planning a fire sale at Stamford Bridge to help offset the huge amount of money spent under Todd Boehly in recent windows, another big name could be on their way to the club. Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that the Blues are plotting a move for him in addition to PSG team-mate Achraf Hakimi.
The report states that PSG are open to selling the duo in addition to Renato Sanches and letting Messi leave this summer as they plan their own overhaul, as Chelsea have registered their interest in the Brazil superstar. PSG will need a huge bid in order to let Neymar leave, as he has a contract at the club until 2025 with an option to extend a further year.
Chelsea will be wary of Financial Fair Play this summer after £600million has been spent over the previous two transfer windows, but significant player sales could help them land Neymar. While Hakimi could follow his team-mate to Stamford Bridge, as his availability has reportedly alerted the Blues.

Chelsea are long-term admirers of Hakimi and previously attempted to bring him to the club when he was at Inter Milan. Though both players are also of interest to United, as they look to make a big splash this summer under Erik ten Hag.
Amid the Red Devils’ ongoing takeover process, potential new owner Sheikh Jassim of Qatar has reportedly identified Neymar as his first signing if he is successful in beating Sir Jim Ratcliffe after the latest round of bidding.

Both Jassim and Ratcliffe submitted third bids but it is thought that the INEOS chief’s offer is of preference to the Glazers, while he has also offered them the chance to stay on at the club, but Jassim remains confident in his bid.
Utd also hold an interest in Hakimi as Ten Hag is looking to improve on his right-back options, while Chelsea have Reece James at the club in addition to the incoming Malo Gusto.
James is out for the remainder of the season after another injury which will be of concern to the Blues hierarchy, while Hakimi proved at the World Cup why he is regarded as one of the top wing-backs in Europe. He would provide a major coup for any successful bidder this summer.
