Chelsea wait on Saul-Tchouameni dilemma, make Kounde plan and Chalobah decision
Chelsea are facing a waiting game in their hunt for a new midfielder for the remainder of the summer transfer window.
The Blues have been linked with a late move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez while Monaco youngster Aurelien Tchouameni.
But they will have to wait for the outcome of a crucial game for the Ligue 1 side to see which player comes out as more valuable.
One star the club have set their sights on, though, is Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
With talks progressing well, the Stamford Bridge side are starting to put plans in place to move on a defender to make way.
But Chelsea are looking to keep hold of their talents elsewhere as Daily Star Sport sums up the best current Blues gossip…
The Saul-Tchouameni Dilemma
Chelsea have emerged as another interested part in the futures of these European midfielders.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are “keeping an eye” on the Atletico star, who is keen on a new challenge.
Having won La Liga last season, the price on his head -according to Romano on The United Stand – stands at £30m.

But Tchouameni, five years younger than Saul and into his second senior season with Monaco, could be available for a ‘bargain price’., says The Telegraph.
It all depends on the Ligue 1 side’s Champions League progress, having lost their play-off first leg against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
With the next leg on August 25, the Blues have already been getting ahead, with SportsMole reporting that they have held ‘fresh talks’ with the midfielder’s representatives.
Kounde update
The Blues are continuing to push for Sevilla’s centre-back, having held talks with the club earlier in the summer.
Reports emerged that personal terms have been agreed – but The Telegraph have detailed how the club plans to overcome the £68m price tag.
Chelsea want the Frenchman signed in the 10 days before the window closes but also want to sell a defender, with Kounde eyed as Cesar Azpilicueta’s replacement.
Chalobah decision made
After an impressive Super Cup performance and a goal-scoring Premier League debut, Trevoh Chalobah has blown Chelsea fans away.
Manager Thomas Tuchel was also full of praise for the 22-year-old, urging him to compete for a regular starting position.
And the Evening Standard have reported that it was enough to ‘shelve’ loan talks until January and open new contract negotiations.
