Chelsea urged to sign Erling Haaland in brutal Kai Havertz claim
Chelsea have been urged to sign Erling Haaland at all costs, with Emmanuel Petit claiming the Blues don't have a centre-forward, despite the emergence of Kai Havertz as a false nine.
Borussia Dortmund star Haaland is still Chelsea's top target this summer, despite the Bundesliga side being unwilling to sell.
Haaland has a release clause in his contract which will be active from next summer, meaning he will be available for £68million.
If he were to move this summer, he would likely cost upwards of double that fee, with Chelsea one of the few teams with the financial capability to afford him.
And Petit believes Chelsea desperately need to sign him, going o far a to claim his old club don't have a striker.
Chelsea have played numerous different players up top this past season, including Timo Werner and Olivier Giroud, but Havertz arguably had the most success as a false nine.
But Petit isn't convinced, as he bluntly claimed the German forward isn't a striker.
He said, via Sport Review: "I'll keep it simple. Olivier Giroud is on his way out of Chelsea, Tammy Abraham is probably leaving on loan, and Timo Werner is still struggling to score goals consistently and Kai Havertz is not a striker.
“Chelsea need a new striker and someone who scores lots of goals. Erling Haaland is the answer.
"He’s strong, powerful and young with a bright future in front of him.

“Haaland’s value is already very high, and connections with Tuchel increase his chance of joining Chelsea.
“Offensively, he could become the finisher that Chelsea really need. "I can imagine his relationship with [Mason] Mount, Havertz, [Christian] Pulisic and [Hakim] Ziyech making him score lots of goals at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea need a top striker, it’s as simple as that.”
