Chelsea transfer round-up as Gilmour future uncertain and Upamecano contact made
It's been a turbulent 24 hours for Chelsea.
Frank Lampard was sacked on Monday morning with Thomas Tuchel lined up as his replacement, raising questions of the Blues' transfer policy going forward.
Only one day before his dismissal, Lampard provided assurances over the future of Billy Gilmour – but will the new Chelsea boss see eye to eye with his predecessor regarding the in-demand midfielder?
Meanwhile, fresh reports from Germany claim Chelsea have made contact with RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano as they aim to pip Liverpool and Manchester United to their long-standing defensive target.
Finally, Danny Drinkwater's loan at Kasimpasa has reportedly got off to the worst start possible with a bizarre training injury.
Here is Tuesday's Chelsea transfer round-up.
Blues reach out to Upamecano
Chelsea have been in contact with Dayot Upamecano over a potential move for the sought-after RB Leipzig defender, according to German outlet Kicker .
Upamecano, 22, is one of the highest-rated centre-backs in Europe and has been heavily linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.
United were believed to be in pole position for the France international and there was speculation they could table a £55million bid in January.
But no such offer has been submitted, giving Chelsea hope they can lure Upamecano to Stamford Bridge.

Gilmour future uncertain
Billy Gilmour may be set for a turbulent few days after Frank Lampard's dismissal as Chelsea boss.
Only on Sunday, the day before his sacking, Lampard said it was unlikely the 19-year-old would leave on loan.
"At the moment, he won't go on loan but we will keep it open until the end of the month," said the former Blues boss.
But it remains to be seen if Lampard's imminent replacement, Thomas Tuchel, will agree with his predecessor on Gilmour's future.
The German manager may want the young midfielder to earn regular minutes in the second half of the season, with Rangers and Napoli among a number of interested parties.
Should Chelsea send Billy Gilmour out on loan or keep him for the season half of the season? Have your say in the comments.
Drinkwater's unusual loan injury
Danny Drinkwater has reportedly suffered an unusual injury in a swimming pool which may prevent him from making his debut for Kasimpasa.
Drinkwater, 30, joined the Turkish club on loan until the end of the season only last week.
But he missed Monday's Super Lig clash with Sivasspor after sustaining an injury during a training session in Kasimpasa's swimming pool.
The Sun reports the midfielder suffered a muscle injury and it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined for.
