Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Alex Sandro as part of a swap deal for Emerson Palmieri with Juventus, according to reports. The Brazil international was a transfer target during Antonio Conte’s reign in charge. And a move to Stamford Bridge could now be on the cards come the end of the campaign.

Chelsea are currently well-stocked at left-back.

As well as Palmieri, they also have Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso to call upon – with the latter a player reborn under Thomas Tuchel.

However, while that’s the case, Corriere Torino has now claimed that Chelsea could sign Sandro from Juventus – with Palmieri going in the opposite direction.

It’s said Juventus are keen to sign the Italy international, who has never lived up to expectations following his arrival from Roma in January 2018.

And Chelsea are fond of this idea, especially if Sandro moves the other way.

The Brazil international was wanted by Conte during his time in charge of the Blues but, in the end, the west London giants found Juventus unwilling to do business.

With the Old Lady keen to overhaul their squad, however, it seems like now may be the perfect time to make a deal happen.

Palmieri’s contract with Chelsea expires in the summer transfer window of 2022 and, as of yet, there have been no talks over a renewal.

Sandro, for his part, is keen on the idea of working under Tuchel – who eyed a move for him during his spell in charge of Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

And it seems as though a deal suits all parties.

Sandro previously said in 2018 that he’d love to play in the Premier League, a dream that now could become a reality at the end of the season.

“I think that one day, who knows what will happen? I have a desire to play in the Premier League, but right now I am very happy where I am,” he said.

“I am happy with the club where I am, with the league where I am playing.

“So my only thought at the moment is to continue where I am.”

Meanwhile, another transfer target for Chelsea ahead of the summer window is Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

The Argentina international has already confirmed he’ll be leaving the Etihad Stadium behind after a decade of glittering service.

Chelsea are keen on Aguero at a time where Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham have all struggled for consistency.

And Paul Merson thinks Chelsea would be onto a winner if they’re to bring the veteran to Stamford Bridge, despite him entering the twilight years of his career.

He said: “He [Sergio Aguero] ticks the box for me and the way Chelsea play – Chelsea are dominant in football matches, they dictate games and have a lot of possession, they play neat and tidy football around the box and they are looking for that little ball.

“They are not trying to hit a ball from the halfway line into a load of space, you are playing at Chelsea and when you kick off at Chelsea, you are immediately faced with 10 men behind the ball, so you need an Aguero who is sharp over three to five yards, that little ball down the side and into the box.

“I like Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud, they are good players, but are they going to win you the Premier League?

“No, and I say that because they are not going to be in the top five or six goal scorers in the league.

“You look at Chelsea now and Mason Mount and Abraham have got six goals and are their joint-top scorers in the league, so that is why Chelsea are where they are.

“If you put someone in that team who has scored 20 goals and are second behind Harry Kane and Mo Salah, then that could be another 10, 11, 12, 15 points, it could be 14 winning goals.

“I think they need a centre forward who can score goals as Timo Werner has not worked.”

Chelsea are next in action against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday (5.30pm).
